

In 1966 Ettore Sottsass wrote. ‘I have never understood why wars are arranged or declared from marvellous white palaces standing in the middle of green lawns... I have never understood why madmen are put into dirty, cold and dilapidated hospitals that would drive any sane person crazy. I have never understood why seats in first class carriages have to be red like sofas in a brothel. I have never understood why tea rooms for old ladies have to be pink like ribbons for baby girls.’
